Services in church are suspended
for the time being ……
Our PCC made the decision to suspend services in church because of the increasing risk of coronavirus in our Parish.
This decision was further confirmed this week when our Bishop (Bishop Will, Lewes) forwarded this request:
"The Head of Environmental Health for Rother and Wealden Councils,
in discussion with the Director of Public Health
and East Sussex County Council,
has requested that we voluntarily close places of public worship
until cases decline across all East Sussex districts."
Having spoken with Bishop Martin, Bishop Will encouraged every church to comply with this request.
Services for us will continue to be online
– click here for more details.
The reason for the suspension is ..........
We are now in a National Lockdown.
The overall rule is: We must stay at home.
We are advised: "You must not leave, or be outside of your home,
except where necessary".
The single most important action we can all take is to stay at home
to protect the NHS and save lives.
The restrictions announced by the Government is the law of the land.
Therefore, we should follow the advice and adhere to the rules.
Things are looking very difficult indeed with the new Coronavirus variant and hospitals are struggling to cope.
The church is acting to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus
as far as possible in these critical weeks.
The suspension of services will be reviewed regularly.
